In reply to Raju S Das's post on May 27, Hi, I have tried these steps, but still no luck. The only box that needed unchecking was word, none of the others had any boxes checked. I found the programs in the 64bit file, even though I'm sure when I downloaded office, I installed the 32bit version because I remember having trouble with the 64bit installation.

My computer shut down on its own and after I restarted it I was unable to use any Office software but I have not used it for about a week so don't know if these are connected. I also lost the use of my Avast Software, my wireless connection icon is gone, my power indicator now reads like wingdings font when I hover on it.

After she restarted it she noticed a few things were messed up. As I began to try to repair it I found several things wrong…. Avast antivirus was off and could not be restarted, No Device Manager info, icons missing from the notification bar, the MS Office issue, etc. After about 10 hours of messing around and I do not recall the exact order but I did all this…. After entering the Product Key it worked.
It used to be 6 months but it looks like they have it down to 30 days now: Licensing Overview for O Each day, or each time the user logs on to their computer, the computer connects to the Activation and Validation Service to verify the license status and extend the product key. As long as the computer can connect to the Internet at least once every 30 days, Office remains fully functional. If the computer goes offline for more than 30 days, Office enters reduced functionality mode until the next time a connection can be made.
To get Office fully functional again, usually a user can simply connect to the Internet and let the Activation and Validation Service reactivate the installation. Because of its online activation features, Office ProPlus won't work on computers that are completely cut off from the Internet. Office products periodically check their licensed status online with Microsoft services, they are subscription based. Technically you dont, you have the internet, they do not, and it's required to keep an activated status.
Thanks Rod-it. If you could use subscription based software offline, there would be nothing stopping someone buying a year license, then disconnecting and never renewing but still retaining use.
I was told when I purchased my version that it was a life time, one unit application. I made the assumption that once it was activated, I was done. Yes No. Sorry this didn't help. Thanks for posting this. I have been trying to fix this on a couple Win10 Ent machines and nothing works, until I found this. I had been running system restore and delaying Windows Feature update, and it eventually re-installs. So your regedit fix worked great.

The reason for the popup is due to the 20H2 build update changing user permissions to MS Office. It is unclear why MS didn't catch that. I am sure there are a number of reasons why. Regarding the fix, it only grants MS Office permissions for users nothing else.

First try Quick Repair takes 5 - 10 minsif that doesn't help then try Online Repair Takes more than 30 mins but less than 1 hour in general Note for Office and below - Please repair only if you have product key with you as sometimes it asks for the product key again after the repair.

Sometimes, the computer manufacturer or Prlduct itself has added a trial version of Office If you find a trial version of Office installed alongside your full version, just uninstall the trial.
